Direct sowing

Direct sowing means placing your seeds directly into the ground in their final growing positions. It is important to remember to spend time preparing the ground. Remove weeds, rake for a fine soil surface and follow the directions on your seed packet regarding sowing depth and spacing. Sowing your seeds in lines, or drills, is useful because you will be able to see the seedlings as they start to grow, helping you to keep them weed free and thinned out as required for healthy growth.
